After hosting the Mechademia Academic Conference in Los Angeles in association with Anime Expo, we had a chance to round things out with an online panel hosted by the Association for Asian Studies as a part of their Digital Dialogues series. A link to the AAS introduction page can be found here, and a video of the discussion itself is linked below.
The AAS is one of the premier academic societies dealing with cultural research in Asia. For them to highlight the popular culture studies of Mechademia was a great honor. Christine Yano was in fact our keynote speaker at the conference in Los Angeles, and she moderated the discussion. All 5 presenters are affiliated with Mechademia in some way, and discussion ranged from the founding and operation of the academic organization to themes in research presented by the speakers.
